Udinese Falls to Last Place in Serie A After Loss to Venezia
Udinese Calcio has slipped to the final position in the Italian Serie A standings after suffering a 2-1 away defeat against Venezia on Friday evening. The result leaves the club with just five points, one behind their opponents, as they continue to search for their first league victory of the season.
Udinese Calcio has dropped to the bottom of the Italian Serie A standings following a 2-1 defeat against Venezia on Friday night. The loss in the direct confrontation for survival leaves Udinese with just five points, one behind Venezia, who now hold the so-called "Red Lantern" of last place.
The match served as the debut for new head coach Paolo Zanetti. Despite his arrival, the team failed to turn their fortunes around, continuing a period of significant struggle that has seen them suffer eight losses this season. They have now gone nine consecutive league matches without a win.
Defensive fragility and a lack of finishing efficiency have contributed to the club's deep crisis. The situation is further complicated by the absence of Austrian captain David Alaba. The 34-year-old defender remains sidelined with a persistent calf injury, depriving Udinese of a key figure in their back line during this critical phase.
With the pressure mounting, Udinese faces the urgent task of securing points in upcoming fixtures to avoid falling irretrievably behind the safety zone.
